It is Friday night and I have had several sessions in the studio today.  I have worked on the leaves from the foreground to the distant background, blocking in the leaf colour as well as the under shadows - this all helps to sit the leaves comfortably on the path.  The hands have also been blocked in today - always tricky!  I will still have to work on the flesh colours to give them sufficient light and shade so that they sit well in relation to the background.  The jacket was only roughed in until today.  I usually like the sketch feel stage but know that I ultimately need to add the thicker layers of paint.  I am quite happy with the shiny quality of the jacket.  The legs, too, have had the extra layers of dark added and have lost some of the highlight on the knees but I must now wait until tomorrow to allow the paint to dry.  I am procrastinating with the face and hair as I must get that right.  The low angle of the head will need the merest hint of nose and lips - too big/too dominant and it will not look right.
