Another quick urban style sketch to use as a demonstration.  The colour was applied first and inked in next.  They look so simple but to achieve detail without being too fussy is not an easy thing.  Applying the colour with little or no pre-drawing is also tricky.  I had a few pencil marks but just the minimum.  Having photographs makes the job easier but the ultimate aim of an urban sketcher is to complete the image from life and even sometimes with an audience from the passers-by!  When you take a photo of the finished product the difference between photo and sketch becomes very obvious.  The basin is more shallow in the photo than the sketch  I missed out some of the detail and would have liked to have achieved the deeper blue of the sky and the richer greens.  If you fiddle too much the spontaneity is lost.  The wet in wet causes bleeding sometimes where you don't want it - c'est la vie!!
