Every week seems to tick over quicker than the one before. Much has been achieved since our European trip of 2013. It is strange how when you are part of the workforce you long for time to fit in time for personal talents, then when you are at home full-time you still find it difficult to fit everything in.
Nevertheless, since the trip, I have completed two sketch books of animal studies(in watercolour) , a dozen large paintings and now onto my fifth study (in acrylic) of the people I observed in Europe. We have also launched into our commercial venture of printed products based on all the paintings from Kevan and myself.
Here is my latest study 'A street in Paris'. I seem obsessed by elderly gentlemen, but why wouldn't I be when they so remind me so much of my dearly beloved grandad. I love their stance, the way they have time to talk, their air of relaxed confidence. If my painting reflects the interior as well as the exterior of these people then I will have achieved what I set out to do. I have some final touches to make before it feels right - though not too much so it destroys the freedom.
