On Tuesday I worked on this sea-scape because I wanted to demonstrate how using masking fluid can help to retain some of the clean paper and thereby more cleanly illustrate the waves.  I didn't use the fluid on the figures but deliberately kept the figure area light until the figures were in.  I use very little pencil - the lightest of touches with the pencil to only indicate where the figures will be.
